Day 1

Our staff will be ready to welcome you at the departure point, farewell your families and friends and start the adventure. We will be having lunch and enjoying the expansive views from Bald Hill, which stretch beyond Port Kembla. We can see the beaches and towns that form North Wollongong and then drive along the famous Sea Cliff bridge as we head through Wollongong to our accommodation in Shellharbour. We will unpack and settle into our rooms and enjoy a BBQ dinner as we get to know each other and plan for the racing events ahead!

Day 2

We will wake and make brekky together as we get ready to head out to watch the race. There are many vantage points to watch from and we will find the best one over the next few days! We will be enjoying a Foreshore walking tour of Wollongong Harbour in which our guide will be sharing the rich and varied history of The Gong. We will grab lunch together and have some time to splash our feet in the water or have swim if you feel like it. We will have dinner together and enjoy the evening festivities in town.

Day 3

Today, we will cook up breakfast together and get ready for the day. We will be visiting the festival events as well as watching the race together. We will drop in to the Science Space science centre today and wonder at the spectacular and impressive exhibits and activities on offer. Science Space is the only dedicated, immersive science experience in New South Wales where anyone, young and old, can come and see how science and technology discoveries have become reality. It is an icon in the Gong! After some lunch together, we will rejoin the race activities and have a fun afternoon together enjoying the cycling. If time permits, we will go for a drive south, having a squiz at Port Kembla Wharf, which is the largest car import terminal in NSW. From there, we will keep driving south towards Heritage Park and Hill 60. These were historic vantage point from the days of the Second World War, heritage-listed Aboriginal site and really good place to spot the migrating whales heading south. We will spend some time enjoying the area and its sculptures, historic pyramids and fantastic views. We will go out to eat together tonight and have some fun on the town with all the event-goers and athletes.

Day 4

This morning will find us up and out early as the last day of the racing is today. The culmination of many years planning and the action of this worldwide event is something to celebrate and today is all about the World Championships! We will be taking it all in form many vantage points as well as following some of our favourites from the week. Belmore Basin is the main harbour in Wollongong and we will take a walk around the Blue Mile, a famous walkway through the harbour beach area and up to the lighthouse on Flagstaff Hill. The views stretch all the way north past Stanwell Tops and south past Port Kembla Seaport. We will have dinner together after a great day of fun, cycling, and champions!

Day 5

This morning we will have a leisurely morning taking breakfast together and packing our belongings for our trip home. One more stop will find us at the top of Mount Keira to enjoy one last look at the view that is Wollongong and take some time to reminisce our time together and how we have been part of a world-famous event. This is only the second time in 100 years that the UCI has been held in the Southern Hemisphere! We will say our goodbyes and make our way home to our families and friends!
