02 December - 05 December 2019 | SOLD OUT
Try your luck panning for gold and explore a gold mine at fascinating Mogo. Known for its country charm and rich colonial gold mining history, Mogo is located southwest of Batemans Bay and north of Moruya on the NSW South Coast. You’ll see goldmining equipment such as a working stamp battery and rock crusher. We will participate in a guided tour of the Original Gold Rush Colony (previously known as Old Mogo Town). We’ll also step back in time and discover life as it was for our pioneers on the goldfields at the Gold Rush Theme Park.
Staying in unique Australian Bushland accommodation, nestled in the Mogo State Forest, this is accommodation with a difference and an experience for all to enjoy. With a huge camp kitchen, heated swimming pool, nearby beaches, walks and dining places all in a unique bush setting where wildlife and birdlife abound, we will relive the essence of life in the late 1800’s gold rush, but “rough it in comfort”.
We’ll also visit Mogo Zoo which proudly boasts the largest collection of primates in Australia. Their zebras and southern white rhinos wander the Savannah plains alongside majestic giraffes and meerkats. While visiting Mogo Zoo, we can experience their animals up close and personal, feeding a lion or tiger, or simply enjoying the affectionate red pandas. The zoo is definitely a highlight

We’ll have a few stops on the way to stretch our legs and refill our tummies. In the afternoon we’ll arrive at our home for the next few days, the Gold Rush Colony! We’ll unpack our gear, settle into our rooms and get ready for our first night in country comfort. We’ll gather round the camp kitchen for dinner and enjoy a campfire in the evening.
Today, after our home cooked, country breakfast, we will participate in a guided tour of the Original Gold Rush Colony (previously known as Old Mogo Town). After grabbing some lunch in town, we’ll step back in time and discover life as it was for our pioneers on the goldfields at the Gold Rush Theme Park. Later we’ll make our way back to the colony to rest up a bit before getting ready to go out for dinner.
Today we will walk amongst the wild and enjoy the company of all the creatures that call Mogo zoo home. There will be much to see and do at the zoo and plenty of opportunity for a bunch of happy snaps with the animals. We will have lunch at the zoo and after the afternoon shows we will make our way back to the colony. Later we’ll gather round the camp kitchen for dinner and enjoy our last campfire and sing-a-long together.
Today we return to 2019. After breakfast, we will pack up our things, making sure we haven’t left anything behind, and hit the rod back to Wollongong. We’ll have a few stops on the way to stretch our legs and refill our tummies, then arrive back to our family and friends.
