Ditch the winter blues and come along and explore this fascinating tropical city, the culture, the picturesque landscape and its surroundings.
We will be staying right in Darwin, close to the esplanade, the wharf precinct and many other local attractions. Close by to the super fun Wave Lagoon for those afternoons we want to cool off. The Darwin Waterfront development is a mecca for visitors who love Darwin’s harbourside location. With two swimming lagoons the Wave Lagoon and the Recreation Lagoon, here you can truly embrace an endless summer.
Participants will be thrilled on the world famous jumping croc cruise. The crocs are wild and have a healthy diet of barramundi, mud crabs, stingray and the occasional wallaby. On our cruise we will see them offered a taste of buffalo meat in return for them swimming out to say hello and show their incredible hunting techniques. On our way back to Darwin city, we’ll stop off for a bite to eat at the famous Humptydoo Hotel. We will spend an afternoon at the Aquascene fish feeding sanctuary. Here you’ll get the chance to hand feed a huge variety of hungry fish and wild rays while learning all about them and hearing some fascinating stories from the local volunteers.
On our visit to Crocosaurus Cove, you will be treated to the V.I.P tour. On this tour you will be guided through all the behind the scenes areas, enjoy a private reptile show, check out the museum, see the huge barramundi tanks and of course, crocodiles! Have a turn at holding a baby croc (safely, with his mouth secured), feed some littlies in the croc baby nursery and have a go at feeding one of the really big crocs from the feeding platform, if you’re game!
Litchfield National Park is definitely on the must do list while in Darwin. The giant termite mounds are a popular stop for a photo opportunity and the waterfalls are magnificent. For those keen for a swim, Wangi Falls is one of the best, most beautiful places for a swim. Or just dip your feet in to cool off, the view of the falls are spectacular. Wangi Falls are also a safe zone from crocs.
