Adelaide & Murray River Cruise

Travel with us to the coastal cosmopolitan capital of South Australia. Adelaide is a capital city bursting with colour, culture and entertainment, surrounded by natural wonders and beautiful parks. We will visit some of Adelaide’s most popular attractions such as the historic Adelaide Gaol and the famous Central Markets. We will spend a day at Monarto Safari Park, the largest open range zoo in the world, known for its large free roaming lion pride, giraffes and rhinoceros.

The highlight of our trip is sure to be the 3 night river cruise aboard the iconic Murray Princess. We will spend 4 days in pure relaxation on the luxury paddle steamer, cruising past dramatic golden sandstone cliffs, watching Australian native animals at play including Kangaroos and prolific bird life. We’ll watch for hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises, egrets and many other species. In the evening, the on-board entertainer provides music for the night owls. We will be invited to inspect the wheelhouse of the ship with the Captain and enjoy a special evening at the Captain’s dinner and dance. The Murray River cruise will certainly be an experience to treasure.

This package includes staffing support (at required level), return flights, transport at the destination, accommodation, activities as per itinerary, 3 night Murray River Cruise & all main meals. Each participant will also receive the option for a hard cover photo book, full of their fun holiday memories.

Day 1

Meeting at Sydney Domestic Airport, we will introduce everyone to the group, farewell our family and friends and get ready to check-in to our flight. On arrival in Adelaide, we will be picked up by our transfer company and make our way to our hotel. We will settle into our rooms and relax before heading out for dinner as a group.


Day 2

Today is our first day on the river. After enjoying a tasty buffet breakfast at our hotel, we will pack up our things, check out of the hotel and await our coach transfer to historic Mannum where we board the beautiful Murray Princess. Mid-afternoon the PS Murray Princess departs historic Mannum, the birthplace of the Murray River trade, and heads downriver while we enjoy a welcome dinner and the sights and sounds of the river. 


Day 3 

After a hearty breakfast, at Edwards Crossing, we will check out some of the town’s historic landmarks and local attractions. We will hop back on board for lunch and some relaxation time. In the afternoon, as we continuing cruising upriver to our overnight mooring at Salt Bush Flat, we will have the opportunity to inspect the wheelhouse with the Captain. After dinner, we’ll enjoy being entertained by the talented crew. 


Day 4

All ashore for the guided nature walk where our guide will share the secrets of the local flora and fauna. It’s a great way to get in a little exercise before the PS Murray Princess departs for the big river gorges and 90 metre cliffs of the upper river. Mid-morning, join us in the Sturt Dining Room for a special presentation on the bounty of food. Later we turn and head downriver to River View Lodge where our discovery vessel awaits for a wildlife tour. Travelling in small, personalised groups, w’ll explore the maze of the river and observe the wildlife along the river’s edge. The afternoon offers a choice of bocce or fishing challenges before joining the Captain and Officers for pre-dinner drinks and the Captain’s Dinner and Dance.


Day 5

After breakfast the Murray Princess arrives at Mannum on the Murray River where reluctantly the Murray Princess Cruise staff and new friends farewell each other. We will then make our way back to our city accommodation and check back in. After some down time and a tasty lunch, we will visit the Adelaide Gaol and see what it was like to live as a prisoner of the olden day times. 


Day 6

Today we’re visiting the world’s biggest open range zoo! We’ll see lions, rhinos, zebras, cheetahs and many more animals, all in a natural open plain environment. We’ll ride the zoo bus to the different viewing platforms to get the best view of these beautiful creatures.  


Day 7 

Today we’ll spend some time in the city, relaxing in the beautiful gardens and parks, posing with the colourful street art, St Peter’s Cathedral and we’ll visit the Central Markets to stock up on any souvenirs. After our relaxing day we’ll enjoy dinner as a group for the last time. 


Day 8

After we enjoy breakfast at our hotel, we’ll check out and make our way back to the airport. We will check into our flight and travel home. On arrival we’ll farewell our new friends and be welcomed back by our family and friends who are waiting for us to arrive.
